| Long Grove is an affluent village located in Lake County, Illinois, approximately 35 miles (56 km) northwest of Chicago. As of the 2005 census, the village had a total population of 7,633. The village has strict building ordinances to preserve its "country atmosphere." There are no sidewalks, street lights or curbs throughout the village's many residential communities. The village consists of 18 square miles, a large portion of which is reserved as open space. |

What Makes Long Grove Unique?
- Adlai E. Stevenson High School is an award winning four year public high school. It was ranked 87th in the nation and 5th in Illinois by Newsweek's Top High Schools in America. It is one of only four high schools nationwide to have received the Blue Ribbon School Award of Excellence four times by the U.S. Department of Education, the highest academic award a school can receive.
- District 96 Schools include elementary and middle schools ranked in the top 25 schools in the state.
- Historic Business District Long Grove may be best known for its specialty shops and special dining. Visitors travel long distances by car and chartered bus to spend a day in the Historic Business District, which contains some 120 businesses. With few exceptions, all are open seven days a week, all year long.
- Long Grove Confectionary is a nationally recognized maker of gourmet chocolates and chocolate candy.
- Valentino Vineyards and Winery is a local winery and 20 acre estate vineyard that produces over 20 different types of wine using the highest quality French and American oak barrels. They have 19 different varieties of grapes grown on over 6,000 vines.
- Reed-Turner Woodland is a 36-acre nature preserve, owned by the Long Grove Park District, in the heart of Long Grove, Illinois. It is home to a variety of diverse habitats and creatures. It is part of the original “long grove” of oak and hickory trees with foot paths that border the ravines, stream corridor, lake shore and prairies of this unique place. The Woodland is ideal for birding, photography and other artistic pursuits, observation, and family nature walks during any season of the year.
